“Ageless”- A Poem About Growing Older

Inspired by my birthday this past Saturday March 17th, I present to you my newest poem “Ageless." Happy Spring Equinox!

As my container fades

my spirit grows

Each new year

an aged rose

Atoms decay

Flesh finite

Soul steadfast

infinite light

Beauty beyond

illusive walls

Uncontained

the illusion falls

I must not fear

what is not mine

Body borrowed

returned in time

All this life

I buff, I shine

treasure gifts

that are not mine

Of the divine

that's where I live

On borrowed time

this life a gift

Energy shift

it does not die

Boundless beauty

one mind's eye

I grasp, I plea

hold on so tight

It's all illusion

why such a fight?

Let go and fly

freedom unfolds

This earthly prison

no longer holds

Awakened spirit

ageless soul

Years of struggle

Sorrows untold

It's all a daydream

nothing less

nothing more

a video game

a virtual tour

Alas I know

at my root core

I am eternal

nothing less

nothing more

So as the clock ticks

as the seasons come and go

I no longer fret

I no longer woe

For I have learned

truth be told

There is no death

so I can't grow old
