My Pureed Liquid Superfood Detox Diet!

Living in a world that's inundated with so many toxins and environmental pollutants, our safest bet is to be constantly and consistently detoxing. No one really knows anymore if organic is truly organic and if non-gmo is non-gmo. So we really need to detox! In fact, my entire diet is a detox. As I publish this article, it's Day 44 of my special pureed liquid superfood detox diet... and I am feeling absolutely magnificent. I originally planned to do this diet for 30 days, but the results have been so fantastic that I'm going to continue to 60... perhaps even 90 days? Some may think I'm a bit of an extremist, however I am not doing a water fast or a juice fast. What I am doing is taking an entire complete meal and blending it with vegetable broth... Plus I am adding some of the most awesome detoxifying supplements available! I am getting all of the nutrients I need... and more! It's actually a very satisfying diet. There's no starvation involved (although I did lose 10 lbs- which was not intended but that's a great side effect for anyone looking to lose weight!).

So what am I actually eating you ask? Well, it's a vegan meal complete with all the necessary proteins, carbohydrates, good fats, greens and veggies! It's gluten, wheat free, sugar free, corn free, nut and seed free and sort of soy free (I will explain in a moment). At least that's how it started out for the first 38 days until I added grain free to the list which took the diet to a whole new cleansing level! I decided to take the meals that I normally eat and turn them into blended meals. If you live in Los Angeles, CA you may be familiar with Dave's Gourmet Korean food. It sells at most of the local farmer's markets out here. I've been living off of Dave's for a while now. It's super healthy and highly addictive vegan, gluten-free and sort of soy free korean food. I don't normally eat soy, but Dave only uses a small amount of low sodium, gluten-free, non-gmo soy in his products... So it's practically soy free!

I take a small portion of Dave's black bean/ brown rice tempeh, a ¼ cup of cooked millet, a small portion of veggies (typically brocolli, brocollini and/or cabbage- fyi I removed these gas producing vegetables on Day 43), a small portion of sweet potato/ yam and mostly greens (chard, spinach, arugula, tatsoi, kale, sunflower sprouts, dandelion greens, watercress, etc) and steam them altogether. Then I take 1/ 2 avocado, some slices of zucchini or squash, a small handful of microgreens, cilantro, 2 teaspoons of unrefined virgin organic coconut oil, a slice of Dave's lotus root, some of Dave's radish salad, some of Dave's veggie broth and water and I blend that all together raw. Then the steamed food gets added to the raw food in the blender and it all gets blended together so we have a nice mix of raw and cooked foods. I don't do too well with just raw foods. I learned the hard way when I did a 7 month long raw vegan diet and barely digested anything! Never again!

So my final step is to add some amazing powdered supplements to the mix. I like to use raw organic artichoke powder, wheatgrass, barley grass, spirulina, chlorella, red marine algae, moringa, Dr. Sebi's bromide powder (Irish seamoss and bladderwrack) and lysine powder. I also add a vegan omega 3, 6 and 9 oil! Wow! That's a serious superfood meal! I suggest slowly adding these supplements to your meal if you are not used to taking them. They are super detoxifying. If you go too fast you may experience a serious herxheimer/ detox reaction (headaches, joint pain, etc). And this is just the very beginning! I haven't even mentioned all the vitamins and other supplements I take with this meal. I think I had better save that info for another article though. It's a long long list!

I only eat (drink slowly with a spoon) two of these pureed liquid meals a day. I have one meal around noon/ 1pm and one meal around 6/ 6:30pm. I prefer to wait a few hours after I wake up in the morning before eating any food. And I prefer to finish all food by 7pm the latest. It's better for digestion not to eat past 7pm. I do not snack between meals at all... not even on my pureed liquid meal! Only 2 meals are necessary per day (at least for me). They are very filling. Besides my 2 meals, I am also drinking at least half of my body weight in ounces of purified water daily (sometimes reverse osmosis water and sometimes reverse osmosis alkaline water). I am also drinking freshly blended aloe leaf between meals and taking other super detoxifying supplements between meals as well (example: food grade hydrogen peroxide, organic sulfur which I actually stopped on Day 43, asian herbs, etc). Yes, it's a very serious cleanse!

So on Day 38, I decided that it was time to remove all grains from this diet. I stopped adding millet and Dave's black bean/ brown rice tempeh to my pureed meals. For 3 days I was stumped on what type of vegan protein I should replace my tempeh with. I have issues with pea protein and hemp protein. I thought I would just go without a solid protein source for a while. But the universe had a different plan. On day 4, as luck would have it, I showed up at my local farmer's market to buy all of my ingredients for the week. My farmer friend just happened to have something called “water lentils.” It's a protein dense aquatic plant. Supposedly it has more protein than soy and its amino acid profile is very similar to that of animal protein! It's not a complete protein source like black beans and brown rice, however it is very very close! Excellent! The tempeh was instantly replaced with water lentils!

But things get more exciting folks! I was having tremendous sugar cravings at the beginning of this cleanse! And the sugar cravings came back again when I removed all the grains! So you want to know how I was able to eliminate these sugar cravings? I will tell you in my next article... To be continued! Stay tuned!
