“Do You Hear My Cry?” World Peace Anthem, Song & Prayer

Do you hear my cry? I cry for truth Can you see it in my eyes? I long to know you Can you feel my pain? I hurt for mankind Drive myself insane I long for the freedom to cure all pain I can't do this alone We must all join in

I wish to make this world a better place I wish that I will never fall from grace I pray to make your day a better day I'm glad when I can change your mood from sad And baby when you're feeling troubled I'll be your shining star I'll never be too far

Do you hear my cry? I cry for truth Can you see it in my eyes? I long to know you Can you feel my pain? I hurt for mankind Drive myself insane I long for the freedom to cure all pain I can't do this alone We must all join in

This world is filled with bitterness and despise but most of us have never really opened our eyes to the beauty that lies within the soul of us all Try to tell you but most of you don't hear my call and sometimes when I'm feeling troubled I forget the beauty too until I look at you

Do you hear my cry? I cry for truth Can you see it in my eyes? I long to know you Can you feel my pain? I hurt for mankind Drive myself insane I long for the freedom to cure all pain I can't do this alone We must all join in

*** I wrote this song many years ago after quitting my first and only full time job in outside sales. I was depressed and slightly suicidal. I was also struggling with gastrointestinal problems and a lack of energy. I had a very difficult time getting out of bed in the morning and dragging myself to work. There was no time for me to record songs or practice my art anymore. I was missing studio sessions. I was just too exhausted from working all day everyday. After only 3 months I couldn't do it anymore.

On the day that I finally decided to quit my job, I triumphantly rode the train back from Manhattan to Queens. As I sat on the 7 train heading to my apartment in Sunnyside, the inspiring words to “Do you hear my cry?” magically came to me. It was a bittersweet moment. I was jobless, however I was also free... Free from working a painful job that was killing my spirit!

We all have tough choices to make in life. Had I not quit that crappy outside sales job, “Do you hear my cry” may have never been written into existence! I like to say “There is a blessing in the curse.” Some of the most important lessons are learned through painful experiences. I learned that I cannot compromise my happiness just so I can work a 9-5 job like everyone else. It has not been an easy road travelled living to the beat of my own drum. But perhaps it's easier than living to the beat of everyone else's drum! I definitely did not come to this planet to become homogenized! Authentic is all I can be.

Would you like to listen to “Do you hear my cry?” I recorded it soon after I wrote it. Here it is: Do You Hear My Cry? Just click on the link, turn up your volume and press play! Enjoy!
